Regarding the annoying lag/stuttering that started after the latest update: @Spawnsy and I have figured out a temporary fix. When the stuttering starts, Edit: No settings change needed, just go to the Video options and click Apply! The stuttering should be gone for a few minutes at least. You're free to change the setting back again afterwards if you want. I find I need to do it maybe 2-3 times in a full round, every 10-12 minutes or so.

Some nerdy speculation: I suspect the cause of the stutter is a leak - perhaps memory, or maybe threads getting stuck/not terminating. Basically the game is taking resources (memory/worker threads) from your PC (mainly GPU?) but not releasing them when it's finished using them. So instead of re-using them later it will just take more. After a while your PC runs out of resources to give, or at least runs low enough on them that it has a noticeable performance impact, which makes the game stutter! That might also explain why @Spriggs's PC fans started going crazy while he was playing - everything is going into overdrive to keep up with the increasing demand on your system. When you update your Video settings I guess it forces the game to release whatever stuck resources it was using, and start the cycle from the beginning again.

If that is the case, you could even try doing the fix preemptively whenever you die, it might stop you from experiencing the stutter entirely!

In the dev livestream today, they announced another potential fix for the stuttering.

In Steam, set the launch option "-NoGlobalInvalidation". That's it. If you're already using another launch option like "-dx12" you can use both, just separate them with a space

one thing you could try is C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Insurgency\Saved\Config\WindowsClient should have a GameUserSettings.ini delete that one file and try again. This was a known fix for graphics problems, (it re-sets in-game graphics), it was recommended after ever update about 2 years ago, I still do it after every update, no problems since.

Found out why I couldn't join the server the other day, more nwi bs, something about a token being out of date. Anyway found this fix https://trello.com/c/xbJfnRTp, now I can get back on the server.
