Comp matches with a 100% EBS team

Post by knightmorphed »

Greetings EBS members, I have to say it's great fun playing Comp matches if you have the time and commitment to stay in a competitive match for 2-3 hours. It was fun tonight against OB and FA they played better and we made some tactical mistakes. I have to say Squad is so much more than being a good shooter, its about communication, team work, positioning, organisation, supply runs, flanking, medics to name a few. Next time NG/508th plays a 36 vs 36 match I would love to get a full EBS squad together. We can do this, we are bloody good but we never tried to play together in a comp match. Honestly we can hold our ground. I firmly believe we have the quality and talent to give the enemy some good battles and win.

If you look at our players:
Medic: Hairy Frog
Medic: Gustav
MG: Miller
Sniper: Aem
Optic: Allana
Anti Tank: Spriggs
SL: KM
MG: Furious Baco
Grenadier: Cercoza
Rifle man: Kentone
Rifle man: Tiedied
Rifle man: Fifth Ace

I would like for us to try to play as a support team to NG/508th in a competitive match. I just know we will do well, we collaborate and fight well together.

If you are game on to try it I will get it organised one day when we can get our diaries sychronised.

Oh and to prove my point about shooting tonight when we lost by 145 tickets our team outshot the enemy significantly …..we had something like 202 kills and 170 deaths and they were the opposite.

One,as an ex war arranger for tooooo many "clans" I can assure you that it's not that easy. Two EBS has never played competitively and probably won't, believe me before I joined I requested on several occasions just for a friendly match , it's a sound idea but that's about all ,I am afraid.

I used to have a whole folder of tactics and alternative tactics for practically every type of game mode for every battlefield game and every map, I also had a pissin great email list of every other ACTIVE war arranger for all the active clans, but getting the "team" to practice or even remember was a nightmare,
The ESL league had very strict rules regards players being swapped out, clanbase was fairly strict as regards timing, the match had to start within about 10 minutes of the agreed start, and after we had all practiced the team had to remember the alternative tactics for half time when we swapped ends etc. Believe it or not although it was extremely hectic I actually enjoyed it, especially when your team won.

I don't see it as the kind of competitive play I have also hapened to practice. Squad is way more a simulator than a classic competitive shooter. Thus the fun of it is in playing it the way it is made for.
So no great differences between the everyday parties and a full EBS squad teamming with 3 other squads against 4 others, but the lenght of the session.

I'll be there 8-)

I really like to play comp matches and the idea of a full EBS squad sounds pretty cool.
Hairy Frog - playing comp is a different world to the usual games on pub servers. Believe me. In comp matches the game is exactly played as it is meant to be. If a team doenst do it, they have no chance of success. Therefore it is a lot of fun playing it.

Now to your suggestion knightmorphed. I see certain problems we would have to face and solve.
- EBS is a non competitive gaming comunity. I'd very interested what the admirals think about the idea of a EBS-Squad (not Team!) in a comp match.
- In your list are 12 players, not all are regulars. Do we get 9 of those 12 together? Even NG/508 sometimes dont bring 9 ppl together for the ccfn. and they have more regular squad players than we have.
- Do we have the skill level needed? When you are not a good player already, comp matches aren't too much fun. You will only die, usually without a chance of getting a kill.
- What does NG/508 think of this idea? They are already two clans - what do they think of a third clan mixing in? (I guess they would take us in cause we play(ed) a lot together. But you never know).

All these things can be sorted.
I am definatelly in to play in a EBS squad in a comp match!!
Maybe we could start with a CCFN where the level isn't as high as on tournaments but still higher than the usual pub games...

Some great points Allana, Frog and Warlock.

NG/508 welcome the idea - Zahler has kindly confirmed we can use custom server to practice strategies and tactics.

We would be whitelabelled as part of NG/508 so it would not be EBS gaming competitively. If the admiralty & NG/508 would like us to change our Squad names to Ng/508 during comp matches or if we can keep them as "EBS" it is a decision they should make. We are sensible and flexible and will go with their suggestion.

On a last minute notice I agree we would not be able to scramble a team together of 9 players but if we have 2-3 weeks to organise and people can commit to a date on e.g. two weeks out unless you are president of america there is a high chance you can check the calendar and there will be free 2 hour spot.

When it comes to skills, yes we are not shooting like Vahe, Slash and Khimera, but to be honest neither are most of the other players on Squad and I feel several of the EBS players are just as good as many of the other players in the Ng/508th community. We are not looking to win world championships here or to trash RVN and Mumblerines, but I am pretty sure we can stand our ground against many of the teams out there and be a solid support squad to Ng/508th. But I agree if only 3 of us are interested then there is no point but if however we have a large enough following of EBS members I think it should be an option that is available.

Those are just my 5 cents.....

Count me in for this.
Regarding skill levels etc. I think we are good fighting force.
I find with Squad that its not just about the talent of an individual i.e. shooting skills, reaction time etc. anyway.
I think a game can be won or lost depending on the tactical decisions made by the squad leaders such as flanking, bold plays and unexpected movement patterns.

Why UK ? Do you think people are thinking/acting that much different in the Schengen Area ?

Exactly what I tried to explain above.

For instance, a skilled player can hapen to shoot doown 3,4,5 guys of a squad, but that will only make a difference if they are not revived, or if there is no FOB/rally point in the surroundings. In fine, the action of the skilled player will have much more effect in term of stopping/pinning the opponents, than in improving his personal score.
That's why tactical surprise, and exploitation of a local outnumber pay much more at team level
