New Squad server on the horizon

Howdy Squad Players

Since Dec 2019 the server we shared with 508th and Ng has slowly been dying.

508th stopped playing squad all together and we also have found it difficult to seed. The old server we were sharing was hosted in Germany by Smoking Rifles - its time for it to go. But dont worry the phoenix will rise from the ashes again and I think we will set up a new server in the UK that will be shared with ZXD, Owls, Spec ops, NG and EBS. Hopefully with some renewed energy we can get this one back on the map. Quite a few 508th folks have already joined EBS and I think several of them will be joining NG going forward. So its not over until the fat lady sings and she is currently in the squad kitchen eating with her mouth full so watch this space we will be back again soon.

I'd say no to this. We have whitelisted status on some good servers atm and they are all have good admin teams on.
It'll be less stress on our behalf to not have to worry the runnings of it all

EDIT - Also more clans / entity's in the joint venture the more hassle it could be

I'd suggest that if you don't put in the lion's share and hold veto then you're open to more of the same problems all over again. You can only trust yourself and your own. The fewer parties involved the better.

Is it still not feasible to run your own server? The fairness and stability of an EBS run server would be your strength and that could draw and maintain the player base.
It could be worth it if you have enough of a dedicated core to seed the server for a month to get it established. It would need to be every evening for the whole month. Genuine dedication to the cause. It's similar to what we did to start EBS in the first instance. Total dedication. Though for a much shorter time.

Yes thanks @Spawnsy for sound advice....we struggle with that dedication - I want to see how it unfolds in the next few weeks....definitely not rushing into anything without understanding the responsibility and commitment. We had a good time on our own server for 6 months and it did well....out of 420 servers globally we got into top 30 for popularity and most visited which wasn't too shabby at all.

If I'm brutally honest I don't see the game becoming particularly popular. It depends how dedicated the current player base is and we all know how fickle gamers are about games.

if this topic is still on, i would also suggest not to be involved in another coalition.
i only know a very small percentage of what happened in the 508 ng ebs server. but what i heard was not too cool. squad might die before it is fully released, and there are quite some okish servers around. i would say we stick to those and enjoy coming and leaving as we please without further responsibilities

Aminning is hard. It takes a toll. Squad leading too, if you have noobs. I would recommend doing what you need to do in order to enjoy your chosen game. We don't game for the hassle right?

We do have the funds if you want to try an EBS server.

The lowdown: The former union of communities was full of conflict and problems. 508th got fed up and split. Squad's EBS player base is shrinking due to natural bleed to other games too. The EBS people have had enough of firefighting problems/petty avoidable arguments and admining the server anyway. The leader (Yoda) of NG (the largest of the factions in the union) has realised he no longer has enough players to regularly seed his server and threw his toys out of the pram, banning EBS members from his discord and the server for saying as much.
Result: EBS will play together where they can (508th's new union server without NG, or wherever) until they all move to other games.
Squad is 5 years old, has never gone to full release, and is slowly declining.
