Hey guys. Over the last week or so I've been having another crack at the Sandstorm mod tools, and I've figured out how to get a custom theatre going! The sky is the limit, right? Right....

I've already remade the "Smoke and Knives" mode as a proper mod (here it is on Mod.io!), which has some better features like:
  • Always spawn with 3 smoke grenades, can't remove them from your loadout.
  • Always spawn with a Gas Mask so you never forget it.
  • Grabbing mags from the supply box is disabled :twisted: You can still resupply to heal and to refill your smokes though. Just like old times...
I'm also working on another mod which changes the base-game ammo carriers. The first version of that is here, currently it just hides your backpacks but I'm planning to add some new variants. Things like a carrier which gives extra MG ammo for the Gunner at the cost of some explosive slots/pistol ammo, or more grenade launcher rounds but less regular ammo for Demo, stuff like that. Balance is important :wink:

As for other things to do, that's where I put it to you guys. Is there anything in particular you'd like to see? In terms of stuff which seems pretty easy, that's things like:
  • Changing class layouts, which class gets what weapons/equipment etc
  • Modifying weapon stats, ammunition counts, available attachments
  • Changing the weapons/gear used by the enemy bots, including different cosmetics
Any ideas drop them below, I have a few changes based on the above that I'm already contemplating. Thanks guys :mrgreen:

Some more feedback for the smoke and knives, the bots cannot have gas masks themselves and probably no armour. Otherwise its a slaughter, any knife kill has to be 2/3 hits where the bots can one tap you.
Maybe removing the masks can be the right choice.

Also, re smoke and knives, a few less bots on the first point if possible otherwise it's bloody hard to get started

Thanks for the feedbacks guys. Yeah it's been fun getting into it more now that I've figure out how it works!

I've reduced the bot count for the Smoke and Knives scenarios to make things more manageable. Annoyingly the bot difficulty can't be adjusted the same way, for some reason the method I used for the bot count doesn't work for AI difficulty despite them both being simple properties... Still working on that. Also trying to fix the desynced supply boxes, I believe it's a replication issue.

@Spriggs - I'm thinking to leave the gas masks on for now because it can be useful. When the bots enter your smoke cloud their first response is to equip the mask, which gives you a short window where their hands are otherwise occupied for you to work your magic... :wink: As for the melee damage, it can be a bit inconsistent so I'd say always go for the jugular for 1-hit kills. Or the face. Pls do give it a try with the lower bot count, if it's still unfun let me know and I'll take away some of their toys.

So following on from the game mode where we had 2 spawn points:

Additional options ('roles') for 1 smoke + ammo carrier or 1 smoke + armour might give meaningful options for variety from the 3 smoke + 'smoke carrier'
