What we do when Origin is down ?

Post by llSatanll »

Idea bouncing

On the very rare occasion Origin is down we all meet in Discord as usual (like tonight) then discuss who's got what installed etc and it always turns out that Joe and Fred have that game but Fanny and Anus only have Virtual Valerie.
We all sit in discord talking bollocks, being silent or trying to come up with a solution whilst constantly seeing if there is a change and if Origin is starting to stop being a selfish prick.

Why don't we identify / agree / suggest a FREE 'Back-Up' game that we can all install in advance once agreed and have in readiness for these very rare nights so we can maintain continuity and keep the EBS social spirit alive.

My suggestion - Epic Games Unreal Tournament pre-alpha :?

Maybe putting a few game suggestions in the pot then holding a vote???

He's not wrong. Aye, I agree it would be good to come up with a game we have as a fall back option, we also discovered the other night that while being similar in this game we all have wildly differing tastes in alternative games which is both healthy but problematic. I don't own most of the games that most others do and vice versa so EG UT pre-Alpha might work, alternatively I could buy one game and download it if we decided which one and it had a cost but I definitely agree with Satan, I actively look forward to getting online with you guys and that night was a pain.

UT 2004 is probably the best one, its really easy to set up a server, also there are loads of custom maps and mods to play with.

I've not played a Battlefield since 3, but if you're after a freebie stand-in for when EA's being EA, I'd recommend taking a look at Heroes and Generals. FTP, not particularly P2W, and a capture point type system that's pretty much as I remember BF being.

Origin does that occasionally. It’s a feature.
Fall forward. Sometimes, it’s the best way to figure out where you’re going. Never be discouraged, never hold back, give everything you got, and when you fall throughout life remember this: fall forward. Denzil Washington

We’re not the avatars we create. We’re not the pictures on the film stock. We are the light that shines through. All else is just smoke and mirrors. Distracting, but not truly compelling. Jim Carrey
