@peglegswansoon is good at bragging so we need something to give him a reason to brag. This thread is for that.

My first suggestion would be to stop grease guns standing upright on their stocks!

Thanks for making the thread Zeal!

I'll start by adding some that I've heard a few times and/or have been working on. Feedback/comments/additions welcome ofc.

Bots
I'm currently creating our own EBS AI mod because none of the other available mods allow me to make the changes I'd like. Here are some of the ideas I want to try, in no particular order:
  • Bots should flank around a bit more instead of always coming from the same directions/chokepoints.
  • When attacking an objective, bots should not just stop in the doorway and do a better job of clearing/"investigating" it to find defending players. Especially if you "intimidate" them.
  • When a helicopter or drone is around, bots should try to take it down as long as they don't have a more "important" task (like attacking a player) to perform. They should try to do this with rocket launchers primarily but also small arms if appropriate. This should be an improvement over their current scripted behaviour used by other mods, which due to it's implementation can lead to bots firing their weapons erratically and wall-banging players instead of aiming at the helicopter.
  • C4/IEDs should not block bots. They should ignore planted explosives unless one is obviously visible, in which case they should try to destroy it. Ideally after retreating to a safe distance... :mrgreen:
  • Improve the bot's shooting. Less random one-taps. More appropriate use of different weapon types, e.g. snipers should snipe, gunners should suppress, rockets and grenade launchers should not be fired so indiscriminately.
  • Better use of grenades, such as smokes and incendiaries. This might be tricky as there does not seem to be an easy way to poke bots into throwing their grenades from mod code...
Gamemodes
I finally took some more time to figure out how the CustomScenarios mod works. I have the source files and permission from the creator to upload new versions. I'd like to try a few things with it:
  • Fix the broken Tell scenario which causes server lock-ups due to bots spawning in invalid locations.
  • Fix the weird bot behaviour around placed props, causing them to glitch out and "phase" through the objects.
  • Try to fix the Operation gamemode (this may be impractical due to how it is implemented).
  • Try creating our own new scenarios to play, ideas welcome! I can get some minimap images if people are interested in designing some layouts.
  • Augment Checkpoint mode with new features, like variable objective placements. E.g. for a weapon cache objective, it can have 3 optional locations and the players have to find it. Each section of the map could contain multiple options for the placement of the regular capturable objectives too, so the route through the map is slightly different each time. A bit like the "random" scenario we used to play before that broke.
