maybe it is a good idea to think about ginger tea also.
it helps your Body in diffent ways.
at first it increases the temperature of your body witch fasten the metabolism so more cals are burned
second thing is If you use it in the form of tea, you automatically take liquid to itself - and that is important, if one wants to let the annoying kilos dwindle. Prerequisite for healthy weight loss is effective digestion and the organism needs water.
and in addition, ginger stimulates the production of stomach acid, which also contributes to a more effective digestion process.

that did help my Cousin who is a "big Boy". aboput 2m height and has been at a weight of 149kg, (i think it was even more in his best times, but i won´t ask because he is a big Boy ;) ).
and now after 3 jears of drinking his ginger tea and not very big changes of his lve style he is at 113 kg and loves his thin live, although he had to spend many monies for new clothes

Spadgy bud, I can give you a weeks dinner/lunch recipes that if you stick to them you will lose 7lbs+ a week if you stick to it.
I have lost a good amount of weight on my diet, and I still have the occasional take away.

After the meet(we know what a greedy bastard I am) I lost 2lbs.

I can pop on discord this evening if you want a chat mate.

Diets don't generally work because A. You're abruptly changing your food habits and B. They're a short term fix which generally are not sustainable. As soon as you stop, you defer back to your old ways.. Also your body will eventually plateau and any big losses/gains you may have seen early on will begin to diminish which can be demotivating.
There's lots of approaches but I think introducing steady changes to your eating habits and physical activity will mean a greater chance of longer term sustainability and results. You're less likely to get demotivated because you're not focusing on those big changes. You don't need to weigh yourself anyway, you will notice if things are improving by your appearance and how you feel - weight is just a number that fluctuates from one minute to the next.. It can be a driving factor to aim for a long term goal, but I think sometimes it can have the opposite effect, being something you focus on too much.

I think a great motivator is also research - reading up on your goals gives you inspiration to try new things and talking about it with others keeps it an interest, I think getting into the right mindset massively helps. Adding some new flavours with fresh ingredients to your normal diet for example is fun, as well as sharing with others what you're up to, it can then become more of a hobby & interest then a radical change in your life.

Perhaps I should listen to my own advice.. :D

See you at the meet. Be it slim, trim, fat, quiet or deafening Irish pillock :D

I think we all agree with you here Animus. I think we're all using "diet" in the what-you-eat meaning of the word instead of the what-you-don't-eat meaning. What I mean by changing my diet is about changing what I eat and my eating habits. Because I used to only eat once a day my main meal was massive and full of either pasta or spuds. I also used to drink very little water. So i store fat easily.

I now eat 6 times a day in much smaller portions. The trick for me appears to be to up my protein and healthy fat and down my carbs and other sugars.
So for breakfast I have a smoothie with a banana and 1/2 scoop of protein. Usual snack at around 10:30 of carrot sticks with red pepper relish.
A meat rap with veg for lunch. I weigh out nuts as a snack for when I want to stuff myself with carbs. Then dinner could be absolutely anything. As long as I watch the portion size and keep the carbs low. That being said a bit of common sense is needed when I mean anything.
I'm also thinking of switching to almond milk at home with my coffee. But the mind isn't willing yet.

Fuck motivation, I need disciplin. Motivation gets you to stand up but discplin gets you over the line.
Feel free to join me on my wondrous and magical journey from being a loud fat bastard to just being a loud bastard.

Just a quick update on this. When I posted on the 13th I was 17.4 stone (110.6kg). I am now 16.9 (107.3kg).
I think drinking water definitely had an impact. I feel less jiggly as I don't think my body needs to retain so much.
I'm sticking to the change of diet and apart from Takewon Do I'm also walking 45 minutes 4 times a week.
Going to speak to my trainer about taking up a second martial art so I can get serious exercise twice a week.
I'm thinking Judo of Ju-Jitsu.
Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Bullets are cheap and lives are priceless.

That's a super start spadg. Jits is awesome. A real thinking art which will use your whole body like few other sports do. I loved it. Best one I ever practiced.
