I know the horrors of mental health and the dark places it can take you.
Last December i saved a mans life who was in such a dark place (read news article here)
I now champion the great work that MIND do and i'm trying to raise awareness as such i will be cycling a 100mile closed road race in September to raise money for this great cause (I have already raised over £500!)

Its great to see people open up and talk about these issues as there should be no stigma attached and it should not be a tabo subject and people should not bottle up there emotions and feelings, Talking really does help!

I may be a piss taking bastard at times but i really do see this as a serious subject to which no one should be afraid to confront or talk about! with that in mind i will always have a shoulder to lean on for anyone who wishes to chat or get something off there chest.

PS: Should anyone of you lovely people want to sponsor me please so so here https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Tim-Tranter
Thank you Huggsy for sharing and thank you for helping that man! Suicide is an extreme action to take and setting yourself on fire proves how desperate this man must have been.

Well done for raising the topic 0v3rz34l0u5 - It takes some doing to stand up and say 'we need to talk about this'.
Thank you Project and thank you for sharing. I’ve found living with various mental health illnesses tough at times and I don’t want anyone else to feel isolated. I know some people won’t understand but if this makes a difference to at least one person, that’s one person helped. 😊

the hardest thing I found was getting the support from the NHS
We have Margaret Thatcher to thank for that, and the subsequent governments who want to do more and more without raising taxes.
Stop that right there. When labour took over they closed my local, as it was called at the time, asylum, putting all those on the streets.

That's enough politics on this forum thank you. Move along please.
Although I am a Labour supporter, Tony Blair started privatising the NHS under New Labour so we can’t completely blame Maggie.

I also agree with Stujb that there should be no more politics on this forum as it’s a) the wrong place for political discussions and b) this is the wrong thread. Politics is something which stresses a lot of people out (including me) and playing with EBS helps me disconnect.

Sorry fellas, wasn't aiming for politics, it just happened! Hard to discuss healthcare without it really.

I tend to avoid the news for the exact same reason Tony :) Except the tech sections of course!

I suffer from OCD
I am the same mate its that bad i call it CDO. On a serious note mental health is bad shit ive been close to it for years with my mum she has suffered from schizophrenia for a number of years and takes medication. Very long long long frustrating, agonising story short, last year i had to get her sectioned my own mother. My dad nearly died she rung me asking me if i had seen my dad, went to her house their bedroom was like a scene from CSI she was oblivious to anything had know idea where my dad was, he was in high dependancy ward at Hull Infirmary. Scary / troublesome times, both back at home and fine for a while now my mother must be on tablets fit for a horse, my dad sleeps with one eye open but fuck me ive been well and truly introduced to mental health.

That’s really not good. My Anxiety has been bad at times, anti-psychotics have been mentioned. 😞 Even as a sufferer, I don’t fully understand it.

Anti-psychotics have different effects for different things. They can be used for anxiety and OCD. Don't worry. It doesn't mean you're psychotic.
You can use Olanzapine, for instance, to treat OCD. It was originally intended for treating people suffering with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

On the same subject but to the far extreme, this was a discussion in discord the other night on what drives somebody to suicide. As @Karrion said, anyone who thinks suicide is a 'get out' or anything similar is a complete idiot. It's a very dark place for a person to be. The natural being for a person is to preserve life, not end it. So for somebody to take their own life, they must be in a very bad place.

I lost a friend to suicide, hung himself after his ex crashed and died on her way to picking him up from work. He blamed himself.

Mental health is something I do not understand, I'll be the first to say that. But I do understand that if somebody has an issue, the last thing anybody should do is take the piss.
This was is a beautiful forum to find here chaps and it bought me to tears to read of your experiences - I lost my dad to suicide and I nearly followed in his footsteps 4 years ago.

People are still so ignorant of depression and the causes of suicide and it makes me sooooo angry that people still say 'people who do it are cowards and selfish' - but I also understand they speak from ignorance - people need educating. I know when I was in that dark place ALL I thought about was how much better off my family, friends and the world would be if I wasn't here. I was convinced I was making the world a better place by taking myself out of it - let alone putting a stop to my own pain. People who have never had depression can't fathom what it's like to wake up each day in to a living nightmare, one you can't escape.

I'm here for anyone if you want to talk - I've been there too. Messaging me on steam or discord is best as I don't often come on here - maybe now though that'll change ;)

Lots of hugs and wishes for a peaceful, quiet, happy mind.

xxxxxx
