Nazare challenge going green for next tuesday

I was there a pair of times, never had the chance to see this spot working live. But it was even a thrill to watch at.

Keep an eye on what is going to be one of the most spectacular surf show of the year. :ailen:

Yes, you can very reasonably expect 24 to 40" tall waves .... above is even possible (the biggest surf recorded there is 78" !), but I don't think surfers would be able to take off paddling on such monsters. As far as I know only tow in is practised at Nazaré when above 40"

I have visited the spot twice (last this year in September), it is very impressive as it produces the scariest beach break of any place in the world. The Edge in California is much more violent, but Nazaré combines power with this phenomenal height..... and there is this 300" cliff just above and beside, that makes the view so spectacular. Nowhere you can watch so close without being in (or on) the water.

When I used to have a bath I used to get similar waves every time I got in.

For those that know Barters from the BF4 & BF1, he runs his own business building surf boards. Apparently he knows a little bit about surfing

This is a little about him http://bucs.org.uk/news.asp?itemid=1872 ... Title=News

Thx for the link. There ae not that many pro surfers who end working as shapper. Most of the several I know (since we were kids) were just honest surfers who were deep in the thing of shaping and glassing since the beginning.... though my first custom made board was ordered to a former champion of France.
Another very well known exception is Kelly Slater. 11 times world champ and very involved in board design though he hasn't ever made himself a board as far as I know
