Any interest in an i7-8700K?

Post by Age. » Sat Sep 22, 2018 8:17 am

I got a free cpu from Intel that I'm going to use as an article for work on how to upgrade your CPU. So I'll have a used 8700K that I'm going to sell. Testing the waters to see if anyone is interested?

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/intel-co ... 3r-in.html

It was used here https://www.pocket-lint.com/laptops/new ... -gaming-pc

As you can see its a few months old but otherwise fine. Could be a nice saving for someone looking to upgrade or build?

You have to get an other motherboard aswell. Your 3770K is on a socket 1155 and the 8700K needs a socket 1151. You might need new RAM, too. I guess you have DDR3 RAM in your machine right now and that socket 1151 needs DDR4 RAM. Correct me if I am wrong guys.

Yeah I should have been clear to start with. Alex is correct you need a socket LGA1151 motherboard for it to fit.

I am actually looking to upgrade my PC and that was the very CPU I was after. 😊 Just not keen on £379 for the CPU and another for £379 for the Motherboard! How much were you looking for it?

I don't want to be the party pooper, but I think you need the chipset to be compatible too :(

I would like it, but sadly I have a B250 chipset, not compatible :S

Would of been interested, but I need a new Mobo and ram too. It's the age ole problem of wanting to upgrade 1 thing, then end up needing to build an entire new PC.

Probably around £250 ish. Which is reasonable for a used CPU that's £400+ new?
