I use Sophos Home and am about to set up a UTM server to act as a Firewall.

Personally I stick with Windows Defender. I'm on Windows 10. My email is either hosted on yahoo/googles/microsoft servers & I wont intentionally open Spam. These hosted email companies protects me from viruses I could download from email as my email is scanned by their servers.

I do not use torrent sites & know what I am downloading from reputable sources. I've not had an issue with Virus' ever.

Malware is different. Browser hijacking IE; changing homepage, changing search engine. These I have fallen foul to a couple of times however are easily resolved. I would recommend:

Spybot search & destroy - Free version - No AV - https://www.safer-networking.org/dl/

Malware Bytes - Free version - https://www.malwarebytes.com

Usually these tools or a combination of these tools resolve any browser hijacking & any malware that may have found its way onto the computer.

However with windows 10 their built in product Windows Defender can stop viruses, malware & spyware across the apps, cloud & web.

Have a look at
https://www.av-comparatives.org/
https://www.av-test.org

They're not 100% accurate in their findings as there's now stuff out there that they're not testing with and will evade all conventional AV.

so put 360 on to compare and even in performance mode with most of it switched off the speed diffference is like getting my old machine back, go back 5 years, programmes hang for seconds, even had a few lock ups.

like the gui and firewall and its very easy to use.

will keep it for a week but the with or without speeds are incredibe.

well I have given 360 a go, and in the end bought the premium at 13£ for a year.. I ended up turing most of the protection off for performace, as allot of it is overkill, but what I do like is it has lots of usefull extras like driver updates, startup and game booster and the usual group of tools.

it does cause some system hanging and does slow everything down, if you do have to use an antivirus, fiewall I would give it a thumbs up...
