Broken GTX 1080 graphics card getting higher-than-expected bids

Post by Chris_86 » Fri Oct 20, 2017 5:31 pm

So. I've got a GTX 1080 which I elegantly snapped when removing from a motherboard last Feb. I was told that it was irrepairable, and certainly unless I was a housefly I doubt I could solder it back together myself.

However, it's getting higher-than-we-thought bids on eBay. Are the bidders after the sink / fans / metals, or is this card actually repairable? For contrast, I'm also selling a broken z270 mini-ITX board which I've pulled apart and generally destroyed since I didn't need it anymore (I'm that boy who dismantled his toys when he was little and got in trouble a lot!), and that's got 0 bids so far.

On the listing I've got close-ups of the actual PCI connector that snapped.

Am I potentially missing out on a jerry-rigged SLI setup here?

Erm... it kind of sold for £160. Erm... yeah. Must be someone who clearly knows his electronics!
