Do not buy the Seagate Firecuda SSHD

Post by TokaiTele » Wed Oct 04, 2017 1:20 pm

So, this drive is a hybrid drive. Which means it is a normal platter drive with an 8gb cache (this cache performs like an ssd).

It uses an algorithm to determine which programs are used most frequently and uses the 8gb cache to quickly read/write the data of these frequently used programs. However, in my experience, if you use a lot of different programs - I do because I'm a software dev - it seems to throw the drive into a total wobbly.

Extremely frustrating and utterly shite. This drive is crap. Unless you only use one or two programs then I suggest you stay well clear.

GRRRRRrrrrrr wish I never sold my excellent Samsung EVO ssd's with my rig.
