New hardware 8_2017

Post by Anderson » Tue Aug 29, 2017 9:26 pm

hi boat,

i want to build up a new system since my old is very old: i5 3570, 8gb, gtx 580, therefore i want everything brandnew and dont use some parts from my old system. it should only work well (gaming, i-net and office), have good quality and speed components (no overclocking) and the case should be a bit silent and should include some silent coolers.

first a question upfront: since i will only put in less components (GK, 1-2 ssd with M2) and want to have a midi better mini case, i want to try at first time a mikro atx-mb. is this worth a try or will i decrease my choice especially concerned a nice mobo?

there is my first proposal:

CPU:
Intel Core i5-7600K, 4x 3.80GHz, boxed ohne Kühler (BX80677I57600K)

MB-micro atx:
ASRock Z270M Extreme4 (90-MXB3X0-A0UAYZ)
ab € 138,00
or
MB.atx:
MSI Z270 Tomahawk (7A68-002R)
CPU COOLER
EKL Alpenföhn Ben Nevis Advanced (84000000146)
RAM
Corsair Dominator Platinum DIMM Kit 16GB, DDR4-3000, CL15-17-17-35 (CMD16GX4M2B3000C15)
or
G.Skill RipJaws V schwarz DIMM Kit 16GB, DDR4-3200, CL16-18-18-38 (F4-3200C16D-16GVKB)
GPU:
Gainward GeForce GTX 1080 Phoenix GLH, 8GB GDDR5X, DVI, HDMI
or
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Turbo OC 8G, 8GB GDDR5X, DVI, HDMI, (GV-N1080TTOC-8GD)
PSU:
FSP Fortron/Source Hydro X 550W ATX 2.4 (HGX550/PPA5503301)
or
Corsair Vengeance 550M 550W ATX 2.4 (CP-9020111-DE) ab € 62,42h
SSD:
Samsung SSD 960 EVO 500GB, M.2 (MZ-V6E500BW)
or
Samsung SSD 960 EVO 1TB, M.2 (MZ-V6E1T0BW) ab € 445
CASE:
Fractal Design Define Mini C, schallgedämmt (FD-CA-DEF-MINI-C-BK)
PANEL:
Acer Predator XB271Hbmiprz, 27" (UM.HX1EE.011) Auflösung: 1920x1080
or
Acer Predator XB271HUAbmiprz, 27" (UM.HX1EE.A01) Auflösung: 2560x1440

Would be nice if i get some thoughts and help.

Thank you pre up.

The 7600K is capable of being overclocked. For that I’d suggest a Water Cooler which would mean a larger case.

What’s your budget?

hi 0v3rz34l0u5, thank you for your help, however I am not planning to overclock, so a smaller case would be nice.

is micro atx worth a try?

You don’t want to go too small for a gaming PC ideally as it’ll get hot! I have a Corsair Obsidian 450D but they do a smaller variant (350D) if size is an issue?

In case you're not planning to overclock you can save some money by going for the normal i5 7600 instead of the i5 7600K. As for a smaller case + micro itx, I'm not sure your GPU choices will fit the case, especially the one with two fans probably won't fit unless you have a case with a separate area for the GPU, then you can work with a cable extender from pci to the card.

Hi HonorOfDuty, thank for your valuable comment,

a fiend of mine brought in the idea of micro atx while I planning only to use a gpu and 1-2 m2 connected ssd, so quite less for a atx board.

ty again.

@Anderson i'm running a Micro system and BF1 runs fine without any heat issues. Just make sure your fans are good quality and make sure there's plenty of air flow throughout the case.

Intel i7 3770
Gigabyte H61m Mobo
16gb DDR3 ram
GTX 1050ti low profile
2tb WD HD
240gb Sandisk SSD
1 CPU fan and 1 case fan
Midi case and 800watt Psu.

Cooling is key. Water cooling is best but if size is an issue, air cooling can be good if you’re not going crazy.

Thank you Vice Admiral BillBailey,

you helped me a lot since I am considering about
a micro-atx system, with the cons:

a lower number of boards to be chosen
probably a heat problem
and in future to less space for further builds.

2nd choice a midi case e.g Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5, (BxHxT): 235x512x548mm • Volume: 65.94l
inside with MSI Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon and Intel Core i5-7600K, 4x 3.80GHz and Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 8G 11Gbps (Rev 1.0), 8GB GDDR5X, DIMM Kit 16GB, DDR4-2400, CL15-15-15-35, Samsung SSD 960 EVO 500GB, M.2

Another question grew up a 4k Panel would be nice however since I have now a LG (2ms) 1680 and feel not bad I think 27", 2560x1440, 16:9 e.g.Acer Predator XB271HUAbmiprz, 27" (UM.HX1EE.A01) will also do its job and I will not be underpowered in future with my GTX 1080.

How you feel about it?

hi sir,Lieutenant 0v3rz34l0u5,

thank you again for giving futher input on this topic, the heat might be a problem in a micro atx especially since my rig is standing within a office table closed on 3 sides open only in front, my ols case has 2 cooler in front an back to get most possible air flow out of the case, however on gaming they have to be at 100%.

would my new system produce lower temperature than my old: i5 3570K, 8gb, gtx 580, 2 350gb sata hd, and 1 ssd ssd evo 840 250gb.
