Realistically, a 4k monitor that size for that price is not going to be great. You get what you pay for as they say.

I know it, but only from seeing emails about their new products for work. Had a look on Tomshardware or PC gamer or anywhere like that?

They're not a popular brand in the west but you see more of them in my region. I believe they may be an unbranded version of one of the big makes. There are a few of their standard monitors in work and they seem ok.

read pc gamers review, looks like g-sync or freesync is a must, ips has a glare that might piss people off. but still were looking at £500 plus to achieve this unless it comes from the states.

wish i didnt start looking

AOC make their own panels. They are not rebranded LG's or Samsung's for example.

Personally I do a lot of research when buying a new monitor, and I firmly believe that you should always spend as much as you can on a new display. A decent monitor will survive 3 system refreshes for me easily (5-7 years)

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk are a good source for info and calibration and I trust them. Might be worth searching there for something within your budget.

As for experience with AOC I have none, but from what I've read they seem to be okay to decent quality but lacking features.

Got to ask the question though. Why do you want a 4k monitor? Generally speaking, the latency is high, and the refresh rate is low. If you want to use it to watch UHD movies, you'll need one that's HDCP 2.2 compliant.. and a kaby lake system running windows 10 for something like netflix.

If you want to game on it, you'll need a 1080, Titan XP or 1080Ti - which aren't cheap. I had a 4K monitor and overall the experience was kinda meh. 2560 x 1440 or a 3440 x 1440 @ 100 hz is the sweet spot in my opinion.

Hope this helps!

Thanks all good thinking.

I think the idea started out as time to replace my old one, and looked around.

g-sync to me sounds a no brainer if you can afford it. and higher refresh rate. 4k not really needed.

totally going round in circles
