Memorable video game music

Post by 0verzeal0us » Sun Sep 06, 2020 9:08 pm

What is your most memorable piece of music from a video game?

I have lots but the one that moved me the most was Dawn of a New Time (by Johan Söderqvist & Patrick Andrén) which featured at the end of “The Runner” in Battlefield 1. It was moving because it (and the whole storyline of the mission) was done well and with respect.

The following videos contain spoilers so are links and not embeds.

For all of the cutscenes for the storyline The Runner, click here.

For just the cutscene featuring Dawn of a New Time, click here.

Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Epilogue has to be among my favorites. It incorporates the well known Zelda theme, but plays it a bit slower:

To name a few:
A couple for nostalga reasons:
Hell March from CnC Red Alert and the theme (and most music) from AoE2:

And the rest here since there are so many:
Journey (PS exclusive game) is an amazing game with the OST really tuning into what the game is
Mass Effect 2 - Iconic and some great tracks from the franchise
The Halo Series (Bungie Era) / Destiny (1,2) - Martin O'Donnell's music was incredible. Special mention to Halo 3: ODST for being different but equally as good addition
Ace Combat Series (5 and 6) - From the only ones I have played, the music from both of them was great and still regularlly listen to it while at work
Timeframe (indie game) - Now this is a hidden gem in my opinion. The game which started out as a gamejam project with some additional polish post competition is only worth about an hour long at most but makes you think if you have the correct frame of mind. And the music based around a guitar and I think strings is worth a thousand words.
I survived the great server crash (23/10/2018)
Gone but never forgotten

@Cold Blood Nor I like the Zelda franchise although I’ve never played Breath of the Wild.

@Ztranier The Colin McRae series was awesome but it’s soundtrack wasn’t as good as NFS (especially NFS Underground).

@Spriggs Hell March was an epic tune like the theme to Doom (the original).

I’ve always loved the music in the GTA franchise, they always chose so well. Vice City was the best.
