Waze

Post by Harrod200 » Mon Mar 25, 2019 8:38 am

What's everyone's experience with Waze? I've only just started using it and while the route it took me to work this morning was pretty random, it certainly bypassed everything and got me in earlier than I'd have thought.

Same here, I'm using it daily to reach my dates and workyards, and this is the very first GPS that I'm trusting enough to follow its route in almost any case. I have owned a high end Garmin for years, that featured this same trafic management utilty, : I only keep it as a spare since I was using Waze

TIP :when I'm wandering on foot, bicycle or my kayak, I use MAPS.ME, much more acurate ( 2m approx : I can zoom and see myself wandering into my own house !) and fluid than Waze for this slow motion context, even more if you are going into the wild. Maps are worldwide free, and auto updating. This app can work like a true GPS, with the embedded movement sensor. So It works even without the GSM conection

I used Waze for a bit but I wasn’t impressed. Google Maps is probably king.

If you consider waze as a simple gps/tracer, yes it has nothing more than many other ... without being the worse, by far.

But when it comes road event warnings, and overall, ETA and pathfinding, Waze is second to none, thanks to its real time interactive community.

Waze is owned by Google and uses the same data - its actually Waze users that give Google Maps the details on traffic jams, accidents and such I believe.

Well it saved me from sitting on the M25 this evening, even if there were a few issues on its route back when it lost signal. Liking it so far.

I have been using waze for over 3 years I threw my tomtom and garmin in the bin.
I use it all the time on my phone and the big screen on my ipad. It updates new roads, routes regularly.
I recommend it to anyone
when travelling back and forth to Plymouth ( this is an 8 hour journey) to my son it has changed the route many times to suit the variable traffic and roadworks etc plus also warns of speed cameras.
for a freebie you cant go wrong

Well it was nice while it lasted. It no longer picks up GPS on my oneplus 5. Everything else that uses GPS works fine, but Waze just won't pick up its location.
